Course Overview & Credential Clarity
Yoga Alliance USA

The 100 Hour Yoga Teacher Training at Shunya Yoga School is an 11-day residential course in Rishikesh, built around Hatha yoga, Ashtanga Vinyasa, pranayama (breath control practices), and the foundations of yoga philosophy and anatomy.

Worth knowing upfront: Yoga Alliance's own standards set 200 hours as the minimum for a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) credential, so no 100-hour course anywhere — ours included — can issue an RYT certification on its own.

What you'll receive instead is a Shunya Yoga School Certificate of Completion, from a school registered with Yoga Alliance USA (RYS 200 & 300) and affiliated with India's AYUSH Ministry. It's a genuine, well-earned certificate for your personal practice and a solid foundation if you're planning to continue to a 200-hour certification later — just not a standalone teaching qualification on its own.

Accreditation & What Your 100 Hour Certificate Means

RYS 200 & RYS 300 Standards • AYUSH Ministry Affiliated
Yoga Alliance USA

Shunya Yoga School is registered with Yoga Alliance USA at RYS 200 and RYS 300, and is affiliated with India's AYUSH Ministry as a registered wellness training institution. Both of those are real, verifiable affiliations of the school itself. What they don't do is turn a 100-hour course into an RYT credential — Yoga Alliance's own standards require a minimum of 200 hours for that, and no school, including ours, can shortcut it.

What you'll actually walk away with is a Shunya Yoga School Certificate of Completion, referencing our Yoga Alliance and AYUSH affiliation, confirming you completed 100 hours of training with us. It's a real, honestly-earned certificate — just not a professional teaching license. If your goal is to teach, the 200-hour course above is the one that gets you there.

Rishikesh is generally a safe, welcoming town for solo travelers, including women training alone — see the Safety & Comfort section on our homepage for more on how we support that.

Still have questions?

Our team is available to help you choose the right path for your yoga journey.

Instant Response
“Shunya Yoga School is more than just a school—it is a spiritual sanctuary of stillness and authentic discipline in the Yoga Capital of the World.”

Shunya Yoga School itself is registered with Yoga Alliance USA at RYS 200 and RYS 300. However, Yoga Alliance's own standards require a minimum of 200 training hours for the RYT credential, so no 100-hour course — anywhere, including ours — can be independently Yoga Alliance certified. You'll receive a Shunya Yoga School Certificate of Completion referencing our Yoga Alliance affiliation, not a standalone RYT credential.
